Exam III is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28th
Exam III will cover the following sections: 3.5,3.6,3.7,3.8,4.1,4.2

Note: The exam will be cumulative in the sense that some questions dealing with material from the sections listed will require will require knowledge of sections covered earlier in the semester.
Quiz 10, scheduled for Tuesday, November 21, will be treated as an optional extra credit assignment.

If you are in class on the 21st, you can take the quiz if you wish for extra credit.

The weekly review sessions have been changed to 4 PM  SUNDAY .
Sessions will meet in Duffy 026.
The extra credit part of Maple Assignment 3 will not be subject to the late penalty if you hand it in after Friday.

9/20/2006 Solutions for quiz 3 are posted. The class average was 21.2 (out of 25). The averages for problems 1-3 were 7.6 (out of 8), 7.6 (out of 8), and 6 (out of 9), respectively. If you got the third question entirely right, you were one of only 3 people who did (mostly because of part f).

Your final grade will be based on a total of 700 possible points:

Assignment of Letter Grades

Letter grades will be assigned according to the following table:

While I reserve the right to use a curve, you should NOT expect one.

Partial Credit

In most cases, partial credit will be given.

The process of assigning partial credit is somewhat subjective, but
I will use the following guidelines for individual problems:

On a 10 point problem,

Exams will be designed so that a reasonably well-prepared student should be able to complete them without a great deal of time pressure.
