Terminology
You should be familiar with all terms mentioned in the text or on the lecture foils.
Using Data
Given a collection of data stored as either a comma delimited or spreadsheet (.xls) file, you should be able to use technology (your favorite spreadsheet or MINITAB) to compute any of the following for any column:
- the mean
- the median
- the mode
- the standard deviation
- the first and third quartiles
- the interquartile range
- the minimum
- the maximum
- the upper and lower fences
- the 5-number summary
- identify outliers
In addition, you should be able to produce a box plot or a stem-and-leaf plot (either with MINITAB or directly from the data)
Given a set of bivariate data, you should be able to:
- find the correlation coefficient
- find the slope of the least squares regression line
- find the intercept of the least squares regression line
- find the R-squared value
- find the RMS error
- use a log transform to find a growth rate
